I'm grieving

1:1 grief coaching

Tailored for you, and for what you want from our time together.

You bring what is happening for you in your life, and we begin there.

Sometimes that might mean spending a whole session with one particular question. At other times, a conversation might move between your grief, the person who died, relationships with other people, your sense of yourself, your beliefs and the life you are living now.

My coaching is underpinned by my See, Feel, Tend, Honour, Reimagine framework. These aren't stages to complete, but themes I have noticed throughout my career in grief that are often worth exploring.

SEE

Notice what is happening in your grief and in your life, including what may have changed in your relationships, beliefs, identity or sense of connection. Begin with curiosity rather than assuming what any of it means.

FEEL

Make room for whatever is present, including feelings that are difficult, contradictory or unexpected. There is no particular emotion you are supposed to feel and nothing that needs to be forced.

TEND

Explore what your grief might need from you and the different ways you might give it attention or expression. This could include writing, creativity, nature, ritual, remembering, movement or simply spending intentional time with what is there.

HONOUR

Recognise what is important: the person who died, the relationship you had, what you have experienced, and the things you want to remember or continue. Honouring can also make room for relationships that were difficult, unfinished or complicated.

REIMAGINE

Become curious about what life might look like from here, without needing to leave grief or the person who died behind. Explore possibilities, choices and what you want to participate in, create or make space for in your life.

Coaching doesn't have to be all talk. Where it feels useful, we can draw on grief tending, writing, creativity, mindful photography, nature-based practices, ritual, continuing bonds and other reflective practices. I may also bring ideas or perspectives from grief theory into our conversations, but these are offered for you to consider rather than as explanations of what your grief is supposed to look like.

What might we talk about?

There is no set agenda. You might want to explore a friendship that has changed, something that feels unfinished with the person who died, an approaching anniversary, anger or guilt, your identity, a change in your beliefs, a decision you're struggling with, how you want to remember someone, what gives your life meaning, or something you'd like to begin doing again.

You might also arrive without knowing exactly what you want to talk about. That's okay too. Part of coaching can be slowing things down enough to notice what is asking for your attention.

I won't tell you what you should do with what we discover. My role is to ask questions, offer reflection, introduce different perspectives and possibilities, and give you space to work out what feels important to you and how you want to respond.
